Senior Audit Position – Birmingham – Hybrid Working

About the Role

If you're a Senior Audit Professional looking to take on more responsibility, drive client relationships, and develop your career in a supportive environment, this is the opportunity for you.

I'm working with an independent accountancy practice renowned for its investment in its Audit team, helping ambitious individuals progress from Senior to Assistant Manager and beyond. This is a firm where you’ll:

  • Lead audits independently while receiving expert support
  • Mentor junior team members, shaping their growth
  • Work closely with Managers and Partners committed to your career progression

The Opportunity

Your role will involve leading a diverse portfolio of audit assignments for owner-managed businesses and corporate clients, guiding every stage from planning to completion. Expect: ✔ A hands-on, collaborative approach with substantial client interaction ✔ Technical challenges that test and expand your expertise ✔ Growth in leadership skills, including coaching and development of junior team members

Key Responsibilities

Assignment Leadership & client delivery

  • Oversee audit assignments from planning to completion
  • Maintain quality control and budget adherence across varied engagements

Technical & Reporting Expertise

  • Prepare, review, and finalise audit files, statutory accounts, and completion documentation
  • Assess audit risks and collaborate with senior partners to resolve complex matters

Client Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Be the primary point of contact for clients throughout the audit process
  • Identify value-add opportunities to enhance client relationships and advisory services

Team Mentorship & Performance

  • Supervise and mentor trainees/junior auditors, reviewing their workflow and techniques
  • Ensure assignments meet high-quality standards while balancing deadlines

About You

The firm is looking for an AMA or ACCA-qualified professional with:

  • Formal audit experience leading engagements end-to-end
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing standards and financial regulations
  • Exceptional communication skills to build trusted client relationships
  • Ability to mentor junior staff, providing constructive feedback
  • Proven ability to organise and manage multiple deadlines
  • Bonus: Proficiency in audit software (e.g., Infor BackOffice, Xero, SS&C setosoft) is advantageous
