Auditor - PIP (Functional Specialist - Quality)
Are you a DWP PIP-approved Functional Specialist with at least 16 months experience, seeking a fully remote position? As a Functional Specialist Quality (FSQ), you will play a vital role in upholding and enhancing the quality standards of our assessment services. Reporting to the FSQ Team Manager, you will be responsible for auditing Assessment Reports prepared by Functional Specialists, ensuring they meet the rigorous standards set by our Clinical Governance Team and align with the PIP Assessment Guide (PIPAG). Your expertise will support continuous improvement by providing constructive, written feedback to aid the professional development of our Functional Specialists. In addition to quality assurance responsibilities, you may also contribute through telephony, virtual, or face-to-face support activities. FSQs are also expected to complete a set number of assessments each month, depending on their approval level (PA3 / PA4).
Job Description
What you’ll be doing
- Maintain a comprehensive and topical understanding of the prevailing PIPAG and Clinical Guidance Notes emanating from the Clinical Governance Team, pro-actively seeking clarity if required.
- Quality check a specified volume of reports per day against the criteria determined and communicated by the in-house Clinical Governance Team based on their interpretation of the most topical PIPAG.
- Provide, if necessary, constructive and impartial advice in the form of audit feedback to FS to enable them to amend and subsequently re-submit fit-for-purpose reports.
- As part of the audit feedback process to recognise strengths in the written reports making specific reference in the feedback.
- Provide constructive, impartial and supportive advice to FSs who contact the telephone support lines ensuring that the content of the conversation is, on every occasion accurately recorded in the appropriate section of CRM so FSQ colleagues can reference the interaction as part of any subsequent auditing which may be undertaken on the case discussed.
- As part of their Quality, Learning and Support process to alert the FSQTM where an emotional or clinical support requirement has been identified for a FS.
- Ensure continuous full compliance with Capita Group and Local Online Mandatory Training (OMT) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) modules – abiding to Capita’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional registration and Authority Approval and to act in accordance with the relevant UK Professional Code of Conduct, being accountable for your own practice and professional actions at all times.
- Contribute to clinical and service transformation including piloting new initiatives.
- Undertake any other duties, as required by the Business commensurate with the role.
- Be clinically calibrated to the standards set by the CMO and Clinical Governance Mgt. Team

What we’re looking for (Essential)
- Experienced UK registered Health Professional with a minimum of 12 months’ post registration experience and current and unrestricted professional registration with any of the following bodies: GMC, NMC, HCPC.
- Have current DWP PIP approval & maintain approved Functional Specialist status, as awarded by DWP, with no restrictions pending or in progress to professional registration and a minimum of 16 months’ experience as Functional Specialist.
- Experience of clinical effectiveness, quality assurance standards, feedback, peer review, audit methodology and, or impartial review
- In-depth knowledge of the physiological, pathological, social and cultural issues which underpin the PIP assessment criteria and attention to detail
- Oral and written proficiency to enable the writing of succinct audit feedback and discussion records on CRM, listening carefully to others and ensuring dialogue is two-way recognising FS will have a range of experience and tenure.
- Working understanding of clinical governance.

The Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) arranges and carries out assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The purpose of the assessment is to understand how an illness or disability affects a person’s daily life. After the assessment, the DWP makes the decision as to whether the individual will receive any benefits. The Health Assessment Advisory Service is delivered on behalf of the DWP by Capita.
