Role Overview

EMEA Internal Audit Office, as the Bank’s third Line of Defence, aims to drive leading-class standards of governance and control in the EMEA region, helping MUFG become the most trusted financial group.

Audit Analysts take ownership of executing and delivering assigned audit engagements. These responsibilities encompass:

  • Supporting the scoping, planning, and reporting of audits
  • Validating issues
  • Partaking in continuous monitoring activities
  • Executing other tasks as assigned by the Audit Director or Senior Audit Manager

Successful candidates will:

  • Bring strong project management skills
  • Demonstrate high performance and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Effectively manage and prioritise workloads
  • Maintain urgency and adherence to established deadlines
  • Escalate challenges as necessary

Key Responsibilities

As an Audit Analyst, your role will be critical in driving value through MUFG’s Internal Audit function within EMEA, fulfilling responsibilities such as:

  • Effectively monitoring task delivery and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Creating timely, methodology-compliant and Quality Assurance Standard-aligned work documents.
  • Promptly escalating potential findings to the Auditor in Charge.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders in identifying root causes and managing Management Action Plans with support from the Senior Audit Manager.
  • Following up on issues, validating findings to the required standards (including desktop validation if applicable).
  • Maintaining regular engagement with stakeholders to drive effective issue management.

Execution and Reporting

  • Focusing on delivering high-standard audit workpapers and files by incorporating feedback and showcasing sustained improvement in skills and documentation competency.
  • Ensuring data quality aligns with established deadlines and expectations.

Issue Writing

  • Developing executive-focused issues that are impactful, clear, possess key messages, utilise factual active voice, and adhere to business writing guidelines with minimal edit requirements by the Auditor In Charge.

Agile Auditing Framework

  • Supporting the embedding of the Agile framework to enhance stakeholder interaction frequency and audit quality during engagements.
  • Raising issues pro-actively throughout the audit process.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partnering with stakeholders to drive and promote impactful and influence-inducing outcomes and elevated standards in controls and behaviours within the stakeholders’ control environment.

Continuous Monitoring

  • Assessing and escalating emerging risks and changes that impact audit universes, risk assessments, and audit plans to Senior Audit Managers/Audit Directors.

Work Experience

Minimum qualifications for this role include:

Experience within:

  • An audit or risk management role focusing on financial services, particularly within:
    • Banking
    • Investment banking
    • Big Four firms
  • Familiarity with audit methodologies and industry best practices
  • Understanding of risk and control mechanisms within the banking and financial services sectors, including:
    • Financial product risks
    • Revenue-generating processes
  • Experience in:
    • Agile Auditing
    • Data Analytics methodologies

Skills and Qualifications

  • An understanding of:
    • Audit methodologies and industry-specific standards
    • Financial products and their associated risk profiles and revenue generation pathways
  • Strong personal and professional development interests
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, applicable across MUFG’s global footprint
  • Fluency in Data Analytics techniques beneficial
  • Educational background via:
    • Higher education
    • Alternative equivalent industry experience
  • Professional qualifications, such as:
    • ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants)
    • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
    • CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)
    • Being highly desirable
