Auto Electrical / Plant Fitter
Location: Alfreton, Derbyshire Salary: £20 – £22 per hour + Death in Service non-contributory benefit scheme
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Auto Electrical / Plant Fitter to conduct repairs, maintenance, and electrical installations on heavy plant, road rail vehicles, and related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance on heavy plant and road rail vehicles.
- Install wiring looms and electrical components.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
- Build and assemble mechanical components.
- Use hand tools and equipment to a high standard.
- Work both at the depot and customer sites as required.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety procedures.

Requirements
- A strong electrical and mechanical background.
- Previous fitting and assembly experience.
- Experience working on heavy plant, HGV, quarry, waste, mining or similar equipment (for roles involving rail is required, car experience only is not suitable).
- Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills and a strong team ethic.
- NVQ Level 3 in Auto Electrical Engineering or equivalent would be advantageous.
- An Auto Electrical apprenticeship preferred.
- Full UK Driving Licence required.

Remuneration & Work Schedule
- Salary: £20.00 – £22.00 per hour (dependent on experience).
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Stable long-term opportunity with potential to work on specialist heavy plant and road rail equipment.
- Death in Service non-contributory benefit scheme.
- Hours: 08:30am to 16:30am, Monday to Friday.
- Overtime opportunities may be available at time and a half during periods of high workload.
