Autocare Technician Apprentice Opportunity
An exciting opportunity to join Beverley Motor Works as an Autocare Technician Apprentice. Working alongside experienced technicians in a busy, high-performing workshop, you'll develop the skills, knowledge and attitude needed to build a long-term career in the motor industry.
Wage: £16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

About the Role
As an Autocare Technician Apprentice, you will work with experienced members of the workshop team to learn all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair.
Duties will include:
- Carrying out vehicle health checks and inspections.
- Assisting with routine servicing and maintenance on cars and light vehicles.
- Learning how to diagnose faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Working on braking, steering and suspension systems.
- Replacing and repairing vehicle components under supervision.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop environment.
- Using a range of tools, equipment and manufacturer information.
- Supporting the workshop team with vehicle preparation and customer service requirements.
- Learning how to work efficiently whilst maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Following health and safety procedures at all times.
- Developing professional communication and teamwork skills.
As your confidence and skills develop, you will take on increasing responsibility and become an important member of the workshop team. The role reflects the responsibilities of an Autocare Technician apprenticeship, including vehicle servicing, inspections, routine maintenance and repairs using industry-standard equipment.

Training
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

What you'll learn:
- Comply with health and safety procedures in the workplace in compliance with regulations, standards, and guidance.
- Prepare the vehicle and working area before the work activity.
- Maintain and restore the work area during and on completion of the activity.
- Store, maintain, including calibration checks, and return tools and equipment to storage.
- Access vehicle technical data to inform inspections and make judgements on wear and serviceability.
- Comply with environmental and sustainability procedures, regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling, and disposal.
- Apply vehicle safety inspection and routine maintenance procedures using vehicle specific data on car, car derived van or light goods vehicle.
- Select and use tools and equipment, mechanical and electrical measuring tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Remove, repair and replace vehicle tyre and balance wheel assemblies on car, car derived van or light goods vehicle.
- Inspect, remove, and replace of parts or components in cars, car derived vans, or light goods vehicles for the following: steering systems and suspension systems, braking systems, emission systems, air conditioning systems, battery and charging systems, fluid and filtration systems.
- Apply state-of-health condition monitoring tests to high voltage batteries and chargers for electrified cars, car derived vans, or light goods vehicles.
- Apply four-wheel geometry checks and adjustments to cars, car derived vans, and light goods vehicles.
- Apply safe working practices and procedures to isolate electrified vehicles for maintenance.
- Record vehicle service maintenance, parts replacement, or repair.
- Apply customer service principles and organisational customer care practices.
- Provide quotation of cost and order automotive parts, products, and consumables applicable to the vehicle.
- Apply procedures for stock and parts storage: ordering, checking and stock rotation.
- Apply organisational sales processes.
- Apply team working principles.
- Comply with equity, diversity, and inclusion guidance.
- Communicate with others verbally.
- Communicate in writing.
- Use information and digital technology systems.
- Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
- Complete and record learning and development activities.
- Apply procedures to check and replace fluids, and filtration parts.

Training Schedule
You will work towards the Level 2 Autocare Technician Apprenticeship Standard (ST0499 v1.3).
Training will be delivered by Hull College at its specialist automotive training facilities on Cannon Street in Hull.
Training includes:
- Vehicle servicing and routine maintenance.
- Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults.
- Working with braking, steering and suspension systems.
- Safe working practices within the automotive industry.
- Customer service and communication skills.
- Workshop operations and business awareness.
- Effective problem solving and time management.

The apprenticeship follows a blended approach, typically involving one day per week at college and the remainder of the week in the workplace developing practical skills.
