Automated Test Developer / SDET
We are looking for an experienced Automated Test Developer / SDET to join the QA team.
The successful candidate will maintain and extend an enterprise-grade .NET test automation framework built on Reqnroll (BDD) and Microsoft Playwright on .NET 8. The cross-functional delivery team develops a Microsoft Dynamics 365 application for council tax property assessment.
Responsibilities
• Maintain and enhance the Reqnroll (SpecFlow) BDD automation framework in C# / .NET 8 using Microsoft Playwright • Write and review Gherkin feature files, step definitions, and Page Objects for new and changed functionality • Ensure automated tests are integrated into pull requests to support a shift-left testing model • Investigate and resolve test flakiness (replace sleeps with condition-based waits, standardise step definitions, eliminate duplicates) • Maintain and optimise the Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline (test result publishing, environment switching, PR gate configuration) • Triage CI/CD failures, distinguishing between test failures vs infrastructure/environment issues • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to configure and manage the agent pool • Manage test data in Excel and databases, ensuring integrity and isolation across SIT, UAT, and FAT • Participate in sprint ceremonies, providing test estimates, risk assessments, and contributing to Definition of Done • Mentor junior QA team members on BDD (Gherkin and SpecFlow), Playwright, and POM best practices • Drive improvements in Ways of Working, including PR gating criteria and test pipeline integration

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
