Automation Application Specialist Beckman Coulter Diagnostics (Remote – UK & Ireland)

About the Role

This hybrid (remote) Automation Application Specialist role reports to the WITS Manager (North Europe) and will be based with Beckman Coulter Diagnostics UK Service – Support. If your expertise lies in laboratory automation and diagnostic systems, we’re looking to partner with you for transformational impact.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver automation solutions: Collaborate with lab teams, customers, and cross-functional teams to implement and optimise automated diagnostic workflows in hospital and reference labs.
  • Technical leadership: Provide deep expertise on TVLA (Total Laboratory Automation) systems, diagnostic instruments, and workflow optimisation.
  • Training & change management: Develop and deliver user guidance to ensure seamless adoption of automation solutions.
  • System maintenance: Oversee post-installation performance and maintenance of automation systems at global customer sites.
  • Innovation: Contribute to lab efficiency and operational excellence by furnishing cutting-edge automation strategies.

Essential Requirements

A hands-on career in IVD laboratory workflows backed by formal education or practical expertise:

  • Degree in Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent) with hands-on IVD experience, including:
    • Laboratory workflows for diagnostics
    • IVD instruments
    • Total Laboratory Automation (TVLA) systems
  • Self-starting attitude: Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines in fast-paced environments, and maintain peak performance under pressure.
  • Language skills: Fluent English (mandatory); ability in at least one additional EMEA language (advantageous).

Aplus qualifying experience includes: ✔ Diagnostics Laboratory Automation Applications (proven track record) ✔ Proficiency in MS Office and experience troubleshooting network/LIS communications.


Travel & Physical Requirements

  • Travel flexibility: 50–70% travel within UK/Ireland, plus ad-hoc travel across Europe when required.
  • You must:
    • Hold a valid UK/EU driving license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Be able to work flexible hours to meet project demands.
