The Role
We are recruiting for an Automation Project Engineer at our Dalston Factory, which is home to Nescafé, and produces a range of products including Cappuccino, Aero, and Coffee-Mate. This permanent role reports to the Project Engineering Manager and provides support for exciting capital investment projects.
This highly automated PLC-controlled process plant focuses on digitisation, automation, and optimisation to expand its leading brands.

Key Responsibilities
Your core impact will involve:
- Supporting the design, installation, and commissioning of capital investment projects on-site.
- Collaborating with the Startup Lead during the startup phase of projects.
- Ensuring automation engineering alignment with timing, cost, quality, URS, and unit operational characteristics.
- Driving forward digitisation plans through automation projects.
Essential Criteria
To excel in this role, you must have:
- Proven experience as an Automation Engineer with preference for a FMCG manufacturing background.
- Hands-on experience managing/executing CapEx projects.
- Degree in Electrical/Automation or completion of a recognised apprenticeship (ideally).
- Strong PLC programming knowledge.
- Technical expertise in Health & Safety legislation (e.g., PUWER, CDM).
- Experience in Stakeholder Management.
- Willingness/openness to embrace new technologies and business opportunities.
- Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset.
