Automation Support Engineer
Automation Support Engineer – Bellshill
Location: Bellshill Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday
At Müller Milk & Ingredients, we are committed to developing our systems and our people to improve site automation performance. We are now looking for an experienced Automation Support Engineer to join our Bellshill site, playing a key role in delivering effective, reliable automation systems that create real value across the business.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with continuous improvement, coaching, and collaboration with our central automation teams.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide reactive support for automation issues, following clear escalation routes
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and deliver sustainable solutions
- Support and deliver minor automation Capex projects across the full lifecycle
- Contribute to site projects that include automation elements
- Facilitate site activities for centrally delivered automation and Capex projects
Systems, Standards & Performance
- Maintain and manage automation and electrical systems, including software and version control
- Ensure compliance with Müller group automation and electrical standards
- Work closely with the central Automation Development team to support standardisation and continuous improvement
- Own and manage site-level automation obsolescence plans, ensuring alignment with group strategies
- Lead panel risk assessments, site health checks, and follow-up improvement actions
- Analyse performance data to drive Operational Excellence and improve production efficiency
- Validate and analyse site data to support quality and performance improvements

People, Coaching & Collaboration
- Coach and mentor colleagues to build automation capability across the site
- Share best practice and technical knowledge across the wider business
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and central teams to deliver improvements
- Support on-the-job training and development of engineering colleagues
Your Müller Responsibilities
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement and Operational Excellence initiatives
- Support delivery of site roadmaps (Quality, Health & Safety, Engineering, and Autonomous Maintenance)
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and performance
- Understand the impact of your work on site and business performance

What We’re Looking For
- Proven automation and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience in a similar Automation Engineer / Support role
- FMCG or manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage projects
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
- Confident working in a fast-paced production environment
- Good IT and systems knowledge
