Automation Team Leader
Location: Wiltshire
Salary: £41,000 (Days) / £44,000 (Nights)
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off
In partnership with a leading food manufacturing business, we are seeking two Automation Team Leaders to support a highly automated production operation. This hands-on leadership role focuses on driving equipment performance, reducing downtime, and ensuring robust asset care standards in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
As Automation Team Leader, you will act as the shift-based lead for automation and asset performance, ensuring seamless production line operations while upholding safety and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading automation and asset care activities across your shift.
- Driving equipment uptime, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and downtime reduction.
- Coordinating tasks including cleaning, inspection, lubrication, setup, and minor repairs.
- Supporting first-line fault finding and technical troubleshooting.
- Maintaining accurate records in CMMS systems and ensuring asset documentation remains up to date.
- Overseeing shift handovers, task prioritisation, and production requirements coordination.
- Developing operators to build their technical capabilities.
- Supporting the commissioning, installation, and stabilisation of new automation equipment.
- Ensuring strict compliance with Health & Safety, GMP, and machine safety standards.
- Collaborating closely with Engineering and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and enhance performance.

About You
We are searching for a proactive, technically adept leader who excels in a high-speed manufacturing environment. Ideal candidates will have:
Essential Requirements
- Experience in automated manufacturing, FMCG, or food production.
- Strong understanding of machine operation, asset care, and production equipment.
- Experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Exceptional fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Health & Safety and food manufacturing standards.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills.

Desirable Qualifications
- CMMS systems experience.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement practices.
- Engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC, or Apprenticeship).
- IOSH or other relevant health & safety qualifications.
