Automation Test Lead
Contract | Hybrid | Inside IR35
We're supporting a leading consultancy delivering a major cloud and identity transformation programme for a large enterprise client. They are looking for an experienced Automation Test Lead to take ownership of the automation testing strategy across a complex Identity & Access Management (IAM) platform.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll define automation frameworks, shape testing strategy, mentor engineers and ensure the delivery of high-quality cloud-native identity solutions.
Working closely with Cloud Security, DevOps and Engineering teams, you'll be responsible for testing secure identity lifecycle workflows, APIs, event-driven architectures and cloud services using an automation-first approach.
What you'll be doing
- Define and lead the overall automation testing strategy
- Design, develop and maintain scalable automation frameworks
- Lead testing across IAM platforms, identity lifecycle and orchestration workflows
- Test APIs, data ingestion processes and event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub, Kafka etc.)
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Drive quality through shift-left testing practices
- Lead defect management, test planning and reporting
- Mentor Automation Test Engineers and provide technical leadership
- Work closely with developers, architects and security teams throughout delivery

We're looking for experience with
- Extensive Automation Testing experience with at least 5 years leading automation projects
- Strong Identity & Access Management (IAM) knowledge
- Python and PyTest
- API automation testing (REST)
- Event-driven architectures including Pub/Sub, Kafka or messaging platforms
- Identity protocols including SCIM, LDAP and OIDC
- RBAC, ABAC or policy-based testing
- Consumer-driven contract testing
- GitHub and CI/CD pipeline integration
- Cloud testing experience, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- JIRA and Zephyr
- Agile delivery environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

- Performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling
