Automation Tester

Job Title: Test Automation Engineer

Location: Leeds (Hybrid – 1-2 days on-site required; travel to multiple sites also necessary)

The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build reusable automated test solutions to support continuous product evolution
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure code is clean, testable, and high-quality from the outset
  • Partner with platform engineers to integrate testing into modern Continuous Delivery pipelines
  • Write functional, performance, and security test cases aligned with business requirements
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing by reviewing test artefacts and mentoring peers
  • Diagnose and resolve testing challenges while maintaining timely, high-quality delivery
  • Own test results, continuously improving test suites as products develop
  • Advocate for complete unit and integration test coverage
  • Apply exploratory testing techniques to uncover hidden insights
  • Clearly document test methods and communicate testing outcomes across engineering teams

What We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in Agile development environments
  • Hands-on proficiency with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber)
  • Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., REST Assured)
  • Experience with UI testing and large-scale datasets
  • Strong working knowledge of Java and SQL

Desirable Assets

  • Collaboration tools: Jira, Confluence, GitHub
  • Experience with Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Awareness of accessibility standards and inclusive design
  • Interest/experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL
