Job Title: Test Automation Engineer

Location: Leeds (hybrid with 1–2 office days/week and occasional site travel required) Flexibility: Discuss hybrid/flexible working options with your recruiter Grade: GG09 – GG10 Referral Bonus: £5,000


About the Role

You’ll help design and implement scalable automated testing solutions critical to modernisation and delivery. Your work supports product evolution through high-quality,璪eustainable automated testing practices—collaborating with developers, platform engineers, and test peers to maintain continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Build: Create reusable test automation solutions for continuous product evolution.
  • Collaborate: Partner with developers to write clean, testable code upfront.
  • Pipeline Integration: Work closely with Continuous Delivery teams to embed automated testing.
  • Test Strategy: Analyse requirements to shape functional, performance, and security test cases.
  • Improvement Culture: Review and mentor colleagues on best practices in test design.
  • Problem-Solving: Overcome technical challenges without sacrificing quality or deadlines.
  • Ownership: Iteratively enhance test suites for evolving products.
  • Quality Advocacy: Ensure comprehensive unit and integration testing coverage.
  • Exploratory Testing: Use heuristics to uncover edge cases.
  • Communication: Clearly document processes to align testing practices across teams.

Your Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in Agile development environments.
  • Hands-on familiarity with automation tools (e.g. **Selenium, Cucumber>).
  • Practical knowledge of API testing (e.g. REST Assured).
  • Experience testing user interfaces + large datasets.
  • Working knowledge of Java + SQL.

  • Proficiency with collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, GitHub).
  • Exposure to BDD/TDD methodologies.
  • Awareness of inclusive design + accessibility standards.
