Role Description
The Automotive Accessory Fitter is a full-time, on-site role based in Gateshead. This role involves fitting and installing a variety of accessories to commercial vehicles, such as racking, lighting, security systems, tow bars, and other interior and exterior enhancements.

Day-to-day tasks include:

- Accurately following fitting instructions and technical drawings
- Using appropriate tools and equipment
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to company standards
- Inspecting completed installations
- Troubleshooting basic issues
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace
- Communicating with supervisors or colleagues about job progress
- Following health and safety guidelines
- Supporting continuous improvement in fitting processes
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, fitting instructions, and vehicle specifications
- Practical skills in using hand and power tools safely and effectively for vehicle accessory installation
- Basic mechanical or automotive knowledge, including understanding of vehicle structures and electrical systems
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality, accuracy, and neat workmanship
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve fitting or installation issues
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a workshop environment
- Capability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work to deadlines without close supervision
- Commitment to health and safety practices, including safe manual handling and correct use of PPE
- Previous experience in automotive fitting, bodywork, or a similar trade-based role is beneficial
- Relevant vocational qualification in automotive, engineering, or a related field is an advantage but not essential
