Paint Sprayer – Automotive Project Support (Solihull)

Location: Solihull Pay Rate: £20.00 – £29.60 per hour Contract: Ongoing (Outside IR35 | Limited or Umbrella) Shifts: 12-hour rotations (7 days a week, fast-paced project)


About The Role

E-ppl is a leading provider of managed services in the automotive industry, partnering with major OEMs in the UK and internationally. We deliver end-to-end solutions from launch support to reactive quality campaigns.

Our premium OEM client in Solihull requires an experienced Paint Sprayer to support an ongoing, high-tempo project operating 7 days a week with 12-hour shifts. If you thrive in a dynamic, skilled role with unique automotive challenges, we want to hear from you.


Core Responsibilities

As a core member of the paint team, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Surface Preparation

    • Removing rust, grease and dirt from metal surfaces.
    • Filling cavities, dents and imperfections with putty to achieve a flawless finish.
  • Masking & Protection

    • Precisely masking components that should not be painted or coated.

  • Mixing & Application

    • Formulating paints, coatings and liquids to exact client specifications, ensuring accurate colour matching.
    • Expertly applying paint using spray guns or brushes, depending on the task.
  • Quality Inspection

    • Scrutinising painted units for industry-leading standards, identifying and rectifying defects such as runs, pinpoint defects ("fisheyes"), sags and uncovered areas.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Workplace Safety

    • Bringing and using a high-quality spray gun, ensuring it remains in safe, properly maintained condition.
    • Keeping your workspace clean, hazard-free, and compliant with health regulations.
  • Health & Safety

    • Strict adherence to paint, thinner, and hazardous material laws.
    • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including air-fed masks.
    • Prioritising compliance with manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years’ professional proven experience as a Spray Painter in an automotive or workshop environment.
  • Technical Skill & Independence:
    • Ability to work safely as both part of a team and independently, setting priorities and managing your own workload.
  • Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for flawless quality, ensuring consistency across complex projects.
  • Adaptability & Stamina:
    • Thrives in rapidly evolving, high-pressure environments with constant demand.
    • Highly reliable, flexible and capable of sustained performance over 12-hour shifts.
