Automotive Service Department Manager

The Automotive Service Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Service Department, focusing on maximizing profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.  Key duties include hiring and training staff, managing inventory, ensuring quality control for repairs, managing budgets, and resolving customer complaints to maintain high retention rates.

  • Operational Management:  Directs daily shop operations, including scheduling, workflow management, and ensuring service efficiency.
  • Staff Leadership:  Hires, trains, mentors, and supervises service technicians, advisors, and support staff.
  • Customer Satisfaction:  Acts as the primary contact for complaints, ensuring high-quality service and fostering positive customer relations.
  • Financial Performance:  Manages the departmental budget, monitors profitability, and sets goals for productivity.
  • Technical Compliance:  Ensures all repairs meet manufacturer, safety, and regulatory standards.

  • Experience:  Generally requires 3-5 years in the automotive industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Technical Knowledge:  Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair processes.
  • Skills:  Exceptional leadership, customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Requirements:  High school diploma or GED is required, clean driving record, and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and physical.
