Mobile FMD Technician – Trane Technologies (Sussex, UK)

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations

✔ Conduct comprehensive mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on contract customer vehicles.

✔ Ensure correct replacement part fitting and foreground alignment of warranty claims.

✔ Perform comprehensive end-of-shift handover documentation (vehicle status, job cards, service reports, timesheets, etc.).

✔ Implement necessary training to become multi-skilled in repair methods and processes.

✔ Maintain exceptional preventative maintenance standards in mechanical and electrical repairs on customer fleets and related equipment.

✔ Utilize diagnostic analysis tools to assess vehicle and ancillary system performance.

✔ Outthink the ordinary: Contribute ideas towards process improvement, sustainability and operational efficiencies.

Customer & Team Relations

✔ Build trust and rapport with internal and external customers, ensuring high satisfaction and respect.

✔ Ensure positive relationships within your team, contributing to a supportive, resilient company culture.

Health, Safety & Compliance

✔ Adhere strictly to company, industry, and legal health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.

✔ Proactively report risks, accidents or near misses immediately to company procedure.

✔ Enforce corporate housekeeping and safety standards.

✔ Wear and maintain appropriate PPE—report defective equipment without delay.

✔ Comfortably wear assigned uniform standards while on-site.


Requirements

Essential

  • Full valid driving licence (for travel between customer sites).
  • Mechanical or refrigeration experience.
  • Ready to relocate, and work without supervision and minimal oversight.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literacy (proficient in industry software as required).

Desirable

  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
  • F-Gas 2079 Certification (relevant to cooling/vehicle diagnostics if applicable).
  • Qualifications in mechanical or refrigeration systems.
