Automotive Visualisation and Graphic Designers
Position Overview
Technicon Design UK is seeking talented Visualisation and Graphic Designers to join its clients automotive design team. This highly specialised role sits at the intersection of brand identity, performance-driven design, and advanced digital visualisation. Successful candidates will be responsible for creating impactful graphic design concepts, transforming 2D artwork into sophisticated vehicle decals and liveries, and applying these designs seamlessly across complex 3D automotive surfaces.
Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary design environment, you will partner with designers, modellers, and visualisation specialists to deliver innovative graphic solutions from initial concept development through to prototype validation and production-ready execution. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the visual identity of future vehicle programmes using the latest visualisation technologies, creative tools, and design processes.
Key Responsibilities
2D Graphic Design Excellence
- Create and develop high-impact graphic design concepts based on design briefs.
- Design cohesive graphic themes, typography, badging, decals, stripes, and visual elements tailored specifically for automotive products and components.
- Develop visually compelling design solutions aligned with brand identity and vehicle character.
3D Graphic Design Execution
- Demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of complex 3D vehicle surfaces.
- Translate, map, and adapt 2D graphic layouts onto physical and digital vehicle surfaces while maintaining alignment, proportion, and visual integrity.
- Ensure distortion-free application of graphics across challenging automotive forms and volumes.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with Exterior, Interior, and Component Designers, as well as Clay and Digital Modelers.
- Ensure graphics integrate seamlessly with vehicle surface language and overall design intent.
- Participate in design reviews and provide creative and technical input throughout the development process.

Visualisation & Virtual Reality
- Prepare highly detailed digital models for high-end rendering and real-time Virtual Reality (VR) reviews.
- Support immersive design evaluations, senior leadership presentations, and design sign-off activities.
- Produce high-quality visual assets that communicate design intent effectively.
Workflow Innovation
- Explore, evaluate, and integrate emerging design technologies, including AI-assisted design tools, generative design, and parametric workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve creative processes and accelerate design development.
Prototyping & Validation
- Prepare and scale 2D vector artwork for physical decal and livery prototyping.
- Support the application and alignment of graphics onto physical properties, clay models, and prototype vehicles.
- Validate designs through real-world evaluation and aesthetic reviews.
Project Delivery
- Manage 2D proposals and representative 3D deliverables through the full design lifecycle.
- Ensure projects progress successfully through Ford’s Core Design process and align with Global Product Development System (GPDS) milestones and timelines.
Compliance & Governance
- Adhere to security, confidentiality, data management, and design sign-off procedures.
- Maintain compliance with established organisational and programme requirements.
Required Skills
2D Design Mastery
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
3D Visualisation
- Strong experience with industry-standard visualisation and rendering tools, including:
- Autodesk VRED
- Unreal Engine
Preferred Technical Tools
- Experience using polygonal modelling and mapping software such as:
- Blender
- Autodesk Maya
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design applications such as Vizcom or similar platforms.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, exploratory, and collaborative environment.

Technical Problem Solving
- Proven ability to resolve spatial and technical challenges throughout the design process.
- Experience refining creative concepts into feasible, integrated, production- or show-ready applications.
Process Fluency
- Knowledge of professional product development processes, including GPDS or similar automotive development frameworks.
Aesthetic Agility
- Ability to work across multiple visual styles and brand identities, including:
- Heritage and motorsport liveries
- Performance graphics and decals
- Minimalist and technology-focused themes
- Lifestyle and trend-led graphic solutions
Experience Required
- 3–5 years of professional graphic design experience, ideally within the automotive sector.
- Demonstrated portfolio showcasing successful delivery of vehicle decals, stripes, badges, liveries, or other automotive graphics programmes.
Experience Preferred
- 3–5 years of automotive graphic design experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating innovative and technically sophisticated graphic applications across vehicle programmes.
Education Required
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Graphic Design
- Automotive Design
- Transportation Design
- Industrial Design
- Digital Modelling
- Or equivalent practical industry experience.
Education Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Automotive/Transportation Design, Industrial Design, Digital Modelling, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
