Job Title: Software Engineer (Autonomy)

Location: Southampton, UK

The Opportunity

An ambitious marine technology business at the forefront of electric propulsion and autonomous vessel innovation is seeking a Software Engineer to help shape the next generation of autonomous and uncrewed systems.

This is an opportunity to work on technology that moves beyond simulation and into real-world deployment. Joining a highly capable electronics and software team, the successful individual will play a central role in advancing the autonomy platform that enables intelligent vessel control, mission planning and operational decision making.

For engineers motivated by ownership, technical challenge and visible impact, this is a chance to influence products used across commercial, defence, survey and autonomous marine applications.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Drive the evolution of ground control systems that sit at the heart of autonomous vessel operations.
  • Influence how autonomous platforms are configured, controlled and deployed in real-world environments.
  • Deliver mission-critical communications and telemetry capabilities that directly affect operational performance.
  • Shape software architecture and technical direction across autonomy and vehicle control systems.
  • Contribute to field deployment and testing, helping transform development work into operational capability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
