The Venue

Bold in scale and ambition, P&J Live is the largest events complex in the North of Scotland. Opened in 2019, this £333 million, sustainability‑led venue delivers world‑class live entertainment, conferences and exhibitions, all powered by local renewable energy making it Aberdeenshire’s hub for culture, innovation and global events.

The Role

As an AV Technician within the Operations Technical team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality technical support and services for conferences, exhibitions, meetings and live events. You will be responsible for the setup, operation and maintenance of audiovisual equipment, ensuring clients and event organisers receive an outstanding experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate and dismantle AV equipment in line with event requirements and venue event checklists.
  • Maintain, test and troubleshoot P&J Live's audiovisual equipment, reporting and resolving faults where appropriate.
  • Provide technical support to clients, ensuring the effective use of in-house AV systems during conferences, meetings and events.
  • Advise clients on AV solutions and identify any additional equipment requirements.
  • Install and deploy event-related IT and AV cabling as required.
  • Assist with equipment inventory management and ensure stock records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment, including allocated storage and technical areas.
  • Support other departments and venue operations by providing technical expertise and assistance when required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and contractors to ensure successful event delivery.
  • Follow all health, safety and security procedures, including the correct use of PPE and safe working practices.
  • Actively participate in training and development opportunities to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
  • Support the venue's sustainability initiatives and environmental objectives.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.

We are looking for someone with:

Essential

  • Working knowledge of current AV technologies and industry best practices.
  • Experience supporting AV systems within a live events, conference, entertainment or hospitality environment.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience working in a client-facing environment.
  • Ability to share knowledge and support the development of colleagues.

Desirable

  • HND in Sound Production or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Microsoft operating systems and associated software.
  • Knowledge of event networking and IT infrastructure.
  • IPAF licence (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience maintaining and repairing AV equipment.

Recruitment Process Outlined:

  1. 1st Stage - Introductory Call with Talent team
  2. 2nd Stage - Interview with the Venue team
