The Role
We are currently hiring for an Assistant Vice President – Head of Marine in our Lloyd’s business to lead the development and execution of underwriting strategy across CNA Hardy’s Marine portfolio on Syndicate 382. This role will drive profitable growth, shape the underwriting culture, and position CNA Hardy as a top quartile performer in the Lloyd’s Marine market.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading underwriting teams: Lead and develop a high-performing team of Marine underwriters, driving a strong performance culture, talent development and succession planning across the function. Driving underwriting strategy: Develop and execute underwriting strategy aligned to business objectives, ensuring profitable growth and strong market positioning. Ensuring technical excellence: Provide expert underwriting oversight, ensuring all business aligns to appetite, authority and delivers target loss and expense ratios. Building market relationships: Develop strong relationships with brokers, coverholders and partners, positioning CNA Hardy as a market-leading Marine underwriter. Driving performance and governance: Manage portfolio performance against GWP, loss and expense targets, while ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance and operational excellence across the function.

What We’re Looking For
Marine underwriting expertise: Proven track record in Marine underwriting with deep technical knowledge of products, markets and underwriting principles. Market presence: Established network of broker and market relationships within the Lloyd’s and wider insurance market. Strategic leadership: Strong leadership and people management capability, with experience leading teams and driving high performance. Commercial acumen: Demonstrable ability to deliver profitable growth, manage portfolios and make sound underwriting and business decisions. Influence and collaboration: Advanced communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders across a matrixed, international environment.
