Global Market Operations AVP / Business Analyst (BA) – Margin / Middle Office Settlements
Location: Glasgow, Hybrid: 4 days on-site, 1 day remote
Flexibility:
- Start Date: ASAP (contract until end of January 2027, potential for transition to perm)
- Pay: Competitive daily rate (Inside IR35), payroll via Rockford Pay
About the Role
Support the accurate, timely execution of margin and collateral processes within CMVS (Collateral, Margin & Valuations Services), ensuring outputs meet procedural and control standards.
Driven by process consistency and incremental improvements through disciplined execution, collaboration in change initiatives, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Core Process Execution
- Execute daily CMVS processes for margin calculations, reconciliations, and collateral movements in strict alignment with defined procedures and controls.
- Validate structured platform outputs (margin calls, velocity-based trading adjustments) to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Breaks, Exceptions & Escalations
- Investigate variances, out-of-tolerance cases, and errors, escalating via defined pathways when thresholds are met.
- Support dispute resolution through:
- Timely analysis of discrepancies
- Coordination with counterparties
- Clear, documented resolution records

Control & Compliance
- Demonstrate adherence to control frameworks, including evidence collection for audits and assurance reviews.
- Highlight gaps and propose practical process enhancements.

Change & UAT Support
- Participate in change initiatives through:
- Business Analysis (BA) and project management (preferred)
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Data validation and process documentation

Reporting & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Produce accurate Management Information (MI), flagging risks, exceptions, and operational insights.
- Collaborate across teams (business, risk, technology, ops risk) to troubleshoot issues and drive efficient service delivery.
Basic Experience Requirements
- Relevant operational experience in collateral management, margin processing, or post-trade operations within banking/markets.
- Knowledge of margin methodologies (e.g., P&L attorneys, VBT), collateral flows, and operational risks.
- Ability to interpret and apply procedural guidelines and escalation protocols without ambiguity.
- Strong analytical problem-solving to resolve reconciliation discrepancies across multiple systems.
- Clear and persuasive communication skills for internal and client-facing resolutions.
- Proficient in data-heavy tools (Excel, PowerPoint tools) for analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of control frameworks and documentation priorities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment.

Minimum Qualification Note: Ideally, background in margin processing, or broader middle office settlements expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with core margin platforms (e.g., spendтуру, Caledonian).
- Familiarity with audit controls, evidence preparation, and risk compliance frameworks.
- Change/Project Management focus (BA, improvement initiatives) within market operations.
- Data-driven awareness of emerging techniques (e.g., data analytics, workflow automation, AI/ML applications for operational efficiency).
