Awake Night Carer (Weekdays / Weekend / Evenings / Nights)
Location: Lindsay Court, 2 Eden Road, Croydon, CR0 1HA
Shifts & Compensation
- Hours: 9 pm to 9 am (9-hour shifts)
- Contract: Rothas (includes a 45-minute paid break)
- Total hours per fortnight: 84 (rota-based)
- Salary: £14.99 to £15.51 per hour (pro rata for part-time roles)
About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Carer to join their Extra Care sheltered housing scheme in Croydon on a permanent contract. This is a vital role providing overnight care, ensuring older tenants’ safety, dignity, and wellbeing while maintaining high-quality personal care.
Ideal candidates should:
- Have a passionate, caring ethos for older adults.
- Be able to work autonomously in a residential setting. --demo excellent communication skills and professionalism.
Responsibilities
Core Duties:
✅ Provide personal care assistance (e.g., washing, dressing, mobility support) ✅ Administer medication as per prescribed schedules and the needs of residents ✅ Conduct welfare checks to monitor each tenant’s safety and comfort ✅ Maintain detailed records of care activities, observations, and interventions ✅ Promote a secure environment suited to vulnerable adults ✅ Support tenants’ independence through respectful, anticipatory care ✅ Respond promptly to emergencies within scope of role training

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
📜 Qualifications:
- An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or
- The Care Certificate (or equivalent/experienced), or
- Working towards either credential and can provide proof of registration
💼 Experience: 1 year+ as a Support Worker / Carer (preferred)
Essential Qualities:
🔹 Empathy and compassion toward vulnerable adults 🔹 Strong communication and observational skills 🔹 Professional attitude with reliability and trustworthiness 🔹 Proven ability to work independently and flexibly during night shifts
Clearances:
- Enhanced ** Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check **required
- Full employment history validation (reference checks, travel documents verified)
Commitment:
- Availability for peak demand shifts (nights, weekends, possible Public Holidays)
