AWS Agent Core Engineer / DevOps (Observability Focus)

Observation Engineer for Agent-Based Solutions on AWS

Observation Engineer • Experienced • Brainscratch

We are looking for an experienced engineer to build and enhance observability capabilities for agent-based solutions on AWS. This role focuses on providing deep visibility into distributed systems, improving reliability, and enabling proactive issue detection and resolution.

Our customer is a multinational corporation with:

  • Over a century of history
  • Operational presence in 180+ countries
  • Goal of introducing Reduced-Risk Products (RRPs) targeting 1+ billion consumers globally
  • An IT platform hosting 700+ applications

Requirements

Hard Skills

  • 5+ years as a DevOps / Platform Engineer
  • 2+ years experience with Agentic AI including developing AI agents or agent-based systems

AWS Expertise

  • Core competencies: AWS EKS, EC2, VPC, RDS, Route53, API Gateway, Lambda

  • Hands-on experience:
    • Terraform (AWS, Kubernetes/Helm, HashiCorp Vault)
    • Containerisation with Docker & Kubernetes
    • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab)
  • Configuration Management:
    • Ansible, Chef, Puppet

Observability & Logging

  • Comprehensive experience with:
    • Open Telemetry
    • New Relic
  • Depth in:
    • Monitoring
    • Logging
    • Distributed tracing

Programming Proficiency

  • Python (scripting, FastAPI, Swagger)
  • Bash/PowerShell scriptwriting

Nice-to-Have

  • Setting up Service-Level Objectives (SLOs), Service-Level Indicators (SLIs), and alerting strategies
  • Performance tuning in distributed environments

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional analytical thinking & troubleshooting
  • Attention to detail, sharp pattern recognition, and anomaly detection
  • Incident response: Ability to stay composed under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Design & implement observability frameworks for agent-based/distributed systems
  • Build & maintain monitoring, logging, and tracing pipelines
  • Develop real-time dashboards & alert systems for reliable performance visibility
  • Analyze system behaviour to identify bottlenecks and anomalies via metrics/logs
  • Ensure high-availability & reliability of runtime support systems
  • Integrate observability tools with AWS platforms & CI/CD pipelines
  • Assist in incident resolution, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with platform & AI teams to enhance transparency & operability
