About The Role

We are seeking an experienced hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team at Leidos. In this role, you will be an integral part of a high-performing Agile team, responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable cloud infrastructure leveraging AWS services. The role requires a strong understanding of DevOps principles, cloud-native architecture, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. You will work within a tailored SAFe Agile SecDevOps Scrum process, applying best practices to automate deployment pipelines, enhance infrastructure monitoring, and ensure system resilience.

This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, software development, testing, and security, to deliver reliable and efficient cloud solutions. The role also includes active participation in Agile ceremonies, risk mitigation activities, and collaborative solution design. A proactive, detail-oriented mindset and the ability to adapt to evolving project requirements are essential for success in this dynamic environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise, hands-on experience, and relevant certifications. Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services, automation tools, scripting languages, and containerization is required. Candidates should have proven experience managing source code repositories, designing scalable architectures, and implementing CI/CD pipelines. Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional or equivalent are highly desirable. A background in ITIL practices, security compliance, and disaster recovery strategies will be advantageous. Additionally, excellent problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage source code repositories using GIT, implementing branching strategies like Trunk-based and GitFlow, and facilitating collaborative workflows.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, and related services.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to provision, configure, and secure cloud environments.
  • Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools to automate build, test, and deployment processes across multiple environments.
  • Write automation scripts in Bash, Python, or PowerShell to streamline operational workflows and reduce manual intervention.
  • Implement containerization strategies using Docker and orchestrate containers using Kubernetes or ECS, applying best practices for configuration management.
  • Ensure security best practices are followed, including secrets management with Vault, IAM policies, encryption, and compliance adherence.
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
  • Set up and manage monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch, ELK stack, or Prometheus to ensure system reliability and proactive incident management.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, translating business needs into technical solutions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-native architectures aligned with performance and availability requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain system stability.
  • Configure routing, traffic management, and load balancing using NGINX and AWS-native tools to optimize traffic flow and application performance.
  • Support structured release and change management processes, including deployment governance, rollback strategies, and version control.
  • Collaborate with platform teams to support Java application environments and ensure smooth integrations across the infrastructure.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and infrastructure enhancements, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage SNS topics and event-driven workflows, integrating notifications with Lambda functions or external systems for scalable cloud operations.
  • Utilize Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket for project management, documentation, and CI/CD pipeline support.
  • Support identity and access management using Active Directory and ADFS, including group policy management, SSO, and cloud authentication integrations.
