About The Role
We are collaborating with Leidos to identify an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join their LCST Programme team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in a dynamic, Agile environment and possesses a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps practices. As part of a high-performing team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud solutions primarily using AWS services. Your work will involve leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation tools, and best practices to facilitate continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), ensuring the delivery of resilient and efficient cloud-based applications and services.
The role requires active participation in Agile ceremonies, risk mitigation activities, and collaborative solution design. The ideal candidate will have cross-functional flexibility, working seamlessly across systems engineering, software development, testing, and security domains. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success of mission-critical projects, supporting the organization’s goals of operational excellence and technological innovation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise, relevant certifications, and practical experience. A strong background in cloud computing, automation, and scripting is essential. Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional or equivalent are highly desirable. Candidates should have hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure management, IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible, and CI/CD pipeline development using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms. A solid understanding of security best practices, monitoring, and disaster recovery strategies is also required. Additionally, familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Manage source code repositories using GIT, including pull requests, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows.
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, utilizing services such as EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, and related components.
- Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to ensure scalable, secure, and compliant cloud environments.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or equivalent tools to automate building, testing, and deployment processes across multiple environments.
- Write scripts and automation tools in Bash, Python, or PowerShell to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
- Implement containerization solutions using Docker, manage orchestration with Kubernetes or ECS, and apply configuration management practices with Ansible or similar tools.
- Ensure security by managing secrets and access controls using Vault, IAM policies, and other security tools, adhering to AWS security best practices.
- Develop and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
- Set up monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK Stack to maintain system reliability and facilitate proactive incident management.
- Participate actively in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-native architectures that meet performance and availability requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Configure routing, traffic management, and load balancing solutions, including NGINX and AWS-native tools, to optimize application delivery.
- Manage release and change processes, including deployment governance, rollback strategies, and version control.
- Support platform-wide integrations and deployment considerations, including awareness of Java environments when applicable.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in delivery pipelines, infrastructure, and operational practices.
- Design and manage SNS topics for event-driven architectures, integrating notifications with Lambda or other external systems.
- Utilize Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket to support Agile workflows, documentation, and CI/CD pipeline management.
- Support identity and access management activities using Active Directory and ADFS, including group policy management and SSO integration.
