About The Role
We are seeking an experienced hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team at Leidos. In this role, you will be integral to designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable cloud infrastructure within an Agile environment. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will apply DevOps best practices, leveraging AWS services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to automate and streamline deployment pipelines and infrastructure management. Your expertise will contribute to building resilient, cost-effective cloud-native solutions that meet stringent security and compliance standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cloud infrastructure management, automation, and scripting, with relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional or equivalent. Proven experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket is essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible. A solid understanding of security best practices, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines is also required. Additionally, familiarity with Active Directory, ADFS, and network routing is highly valued.

- Manage source code repositories using GIT, including pull requests, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows to ensure efficient version control and code integrity.
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure utilizing services such as EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, and others to support scalable and secure environments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, automating build, test, and deployment processes across multiple environments to ensure rapid and reliable delivery.
- Create and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
- Implement containerization strategies using Docker and orchestrate container deployments with Kubernetes or ECS, ensuring efficient resource utilization and scalability.
- Manage secrets and sensitive information securely using tools such as Vault and IAM policies, maintaining strict access controls.
- Enforce AWS security best practices, including encryption, patch management, monitoring, and compliance adherence, to safeguard infrastructure and data.
- Develop and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions using CloudWatch and other tools to ensure system reliability, observability, and proactive incident response.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups, translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Design resilient, scalable, and cost-effective cloud-native solutions aligned with performance and availability requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective mitigation strategies to minimize downtime.
- Configure routing, traffic management, and load balancing using NGINX and AWS-native tools to optimize application delivery.
- Follow structured release and change management processes, including deployment governance, rollback plans, and version control.
- Support platform-wide consistency and integration efforts, including understanding Java application deployment considerations.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve delivery pipelines, infrastructure, and operational practices through a proactive mindset.
- Design and manage SNS topics for event-driven architectures, integrating notifications with Lambda functions or external systems to support scalable workflows.
- Utilize Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket for project management, documentation, and CI/CD pipeline oversight.
- Collaborate with security teams and manage identity and access management using Active Directory and ADFS, including group policy management and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations.
