About The Role

We are seeking an experienced hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team at Leidos. In this pivotal role, you will be part of a high-performing Agile team responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable cloud infrastructure. Your expertise will drive automation, continuous integration and delivery, and infrastructure management using best practices aligned with SAFe Agile SecDevOps methodologies. You will leverage AWS services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to create resilient cloud-native solutions that meet operational and security standards.

This role involves active participation in Agile ceremonies, risk mitigation activities, and collaborative solution design. You will work across systems engineering, software development, testing, and security teams, demonstrating cross-functional flexibility. Your hands-on approach will be essential in managing automated testing, deployment pipelines, infrastructure monitoring, and security compliance, ensuring high availability and performance of cloud-based systems.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in cloud infrastructure management, automation, and DevOps practices. Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or equivalent are preferred. Candidates should have hands-on experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and a solid understanding of AWS services and cloud architecture. Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and configuration management tools is essential. Additionally, experience working within Agile frameworks, supporting CI/CD pipelines, and implementing security best practices is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage source code repositories using GIT, implementing branching strategies such as Trunk-based or GitFlow workflows, and facilitating collaborative development.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, including services like EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, and related networking components.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud environments, ensuring security and scalability.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools to automate building, testing, and deploying applications across multiple environments.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline operational workflows, reduce manual intervention, and improve system reliability.
  • Manage containerization strategies using Docker and orchestrate container deployments using Kubernetes or ECS, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
  • Implement secrets management and access control mechanisms using tools like Vault and IAM policies to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Adhere to AWS security best practices, including encryption, patch management, monitoring, and compliance, to protect cloud assets.
  • Design and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Set up and optimize monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch, ensuring system observability and proactive incident response.
  • Participate actively in Agile development processes, translating business requirements into technical solutions, and contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
  • Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-native solutions that align with performance and availability targets.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain system stability.
  • Configure traffic routing, load balancing, and traffic management solutions using NGINX and AWS-native tools to optimize traffic flow and system performance.
  • Manage structured release and change management processes, including deployment governance, rollback strategies, and version control.
  • Support platform-wide application deployment considerations, including Java environments, and ensure consistent integration across systems.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within delivery pipelines, infrastructure, and development practices.
  • Design and manage SNS topics for event-driven architectures, integrating notifications with Lambda functions or external systems to support scalable workflows.
  • Utilize Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket to support Agile practices, documentation, collaboration, and CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Support identity and access management using Active Directory and ADFS, including group policies, SSO configurations, and cloud authentication integrations.
