AWS or Azure Engineer
Cloud Engineer (AWS or Azure)
Hybrid - Cheltenham - £50,000-£60,000
We’re partnering with a growing technology business looking to add a Cloud Operations Engineer to its infrastructure team. This is an opportunity to support and improve a large-scale, business-critical SaaS platform used by enterprise customers.
We’re open to engineers with experience in either AWS or Azure. If you have 2+ years’ experience supporting cloud infrastructure and enjoy solving technical problems in production environments, we’d love to hear from you.
Working alongside Development, QA, Security, and Database teams, you’ll help ensure the platform remains secure, resilient, and highly available while contributing to automation, monitoring, and operational improvements.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for supporting and maintaining cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting production issues, and helping deliver a reliable service for customers. Key responsibilities include:
- Support production and non-production cloud environments across either AWS or Azure
- Maintain the availability, performance, and security of cloud infrastructure
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure and application issues
- Support deployments through CI/CD pipelines and assist with release activities
- Manage cloud networking, compute, storage, and application services
- Monitor platform health using modern observability and monitoring tools
- Perform root cause analysis and contribute to continual service improvements
- Support patching, vulnerability remediation, and security best practices
- Collaborate closely with software engineers and infrastructure teams to support platform delivery
- Contribute to automation, documentation, and operational improvements
- Participate in an on-call rota supporting production services

About You
We’re looking for someone with 2+ years’ experience in Cloud or Infrastructure Operations. You’ll ideally have exposure to:
Cloud Platforms
- Commercial experience supporting either AWS or Microsoft Azure
- Understanding of cloud networking, virtual networks/VPCs, load balancing, routing, and security groups
- Experience with cloud compute, storage, and application services
Infrastructure
- Windows Server administration
- Operational knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (monitoring, backups, and basic troubleshooting—not database administration)
- Strong grasp of networking fundamentals

DevOps & Automation
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to scripting or infrastructure automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Terraform)
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices
Monitoring & Operations
- Experience with monitoring platforms like Datadog, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Grafana, or similar
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills
- Understanding of change management and production support processes
Desirable
- Experience supporting SaaS or cloud-hosted applications
- Knowledge of security best practices and vulnerability management
- Familiarity with structured operational environments or ITIL principles
