The Opportunity
VML Enterprise Solutions is expanding its AWS-focused technical pre-sales team to bolster growth in EMEA, with a core focus on the UK and Ireland. We seek a hands-on technical expert who can demonstrate the value of our AWS solutions through:
- Clear demos
- High-impact proof-of-concept (POC) deployments
- Scalable reference architectures
This guiding role sits between AWS technology and VML delivery, supporting co-sell opportunities by: ✔ Removing technical doubt
✔ Proving feasibility
✔ Building client confidence
You will collaborate closely with:
- Alliance Sales
- Solution Leads
- AWS teams across UK&I and EMEA
The Role
This is a technical pre-sales position specialising in AWS co-sell across EMEA. Your primary responsibility is to:
- Lead demos, POCs, and solution design
- Support engagements from initial contact to close
Success metrics include: 📊 POCs completed 📈 Conversion to production 🔍 Architecture quality ✅ Impact on technical win rates
What You’ll Do
Technical Pre-Sales & Pursuit Support
- Act as the technical lead within account teams on AWS opportunities
- Deliver client-facing demos and design POC engagements
- Collaborate with AWS Solution Architects and VML stakeholders
- Contribute to RFPs and Statements of Work (SOWs) with:
- Technical content shaping
- Solution scope clarity
- Lead high-level technical discussions and resolution of blockers to boost client confidence

Architecture & Assets
- Design reference architectures for common AWS use cases
- Build reusable demo environments and assets
- Document best practices and stay current with AWS service updates
- Ensure compliance with:
- GDPR
- UK data residency
- EU data sovereignty
Enablement & Collaboration
- Provide technical guidance for delivery teams
- Share best practices to bolster capability across EMEA
- Maintain active AWS certifications and maintain strong ties with AWS teams
Technical Focus (Key Areas)
Strong experience in at least several of the following is required:

- API-driven architectures
- Integration Patterns:
- Event-driven architecture
- Microservices
- Data Governance, Security & Regional Compliance

Your Background
-
Technical Pre-Sales, Solution Architecture, or Sales Engineering background, ideally within:
- Professional services
- Consultancies
- GSI firms
- Agencies
- Big 4 teams
- AWS ProServe

Exceptional client-facing sales engineering experience, with a track record of:
- Leading POCs, demos, and architectural discussions
- Shaping narratives that drive deals

Comfortable contributing to:
- Statements of Work (SOWs)
- RFPs
- Proposals (solution narratives, assumptions, stages, effort estimates)

Proven AWS hands-on experience, including:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (minimum)
- Deep familiarity with AWS services (principle 200+ exposure)

Nice to Have
🔹 Advanced AWS certifications, such as:
- Solutions Architect – Professional
- AI/ML, Data Analytics or Security AWs Specialty
🔹 Hands-on experience with:
- Amazon Bedrock / Generative AI
- Marketing technology (Amazon Personalization, DSPs)
🔹 Former experience:
- Working for an AWS partner
- Direct AWS engagement
- Supporting AWS co-sell teams (UKI & EMEA)
🔹 Familiarity with:
- EMEA regulatory frameworks (GDPR, DORA)
- ETL processes & data security
🔹 Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
🔹 Bonuses:
- Proficiency in additional European languages
Role positioning
This is not a sales quota role nor a post-sale delivery position. Rather, this is a strategic technical expert position, focused on:
