(Internal Job Level Reference Specialist/Team Leader)

About Focus Group

Focus Group is a £300m-revenue, 1,400-person technology services company backed by Hg Capital. Following our $1bn valuation in 2024, we're scaling rapidly and investing in AI to transform how we operate and how we serve our 30,000 SME customers.

As we continue to expand our portfolio and scale our operations, we're committed to setting new industry standards in managed service excellence. Our growth trajectory and strategic acquisitions position us as an organization ready to redefine what world-class technical support means in today's rapidly evolving technology landscape.

The role

We're looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer with deep Terraform and DevOps expertise to join our growing Cloud Operations team at a Specialist level. You'll take hands-on ownership of infrastructure engineering - designing, automating and maintaining Azure infrastructure at scale - while acting as a senior technical point of contact for the wider service team.

This role suits someone who lives and breathes infrastructure-as-code, treats automation as the default way of working, and wants to deliver resilient, secure and cost-efficient cloud platforms for our customers.

What you'll be doing

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure using Terraform as the primary IaC (infrastructure-as-code) tool, working to modular, reusable and version-controlled patterns.
  • Develop and own CI/CD pipelines across Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions for both infrastructure and application deployments, and automate provisioning, configuration and lifecycle management across multiple client environments and subscriptions.
  • Implement and enforce security, governance and compliance baselines, covering Azure Policy, RBAC (role-based access control), Key Vault, networking and landing zones.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise the performance, reliability and cost of Azure workloads.
  • Coordinate workload and prioritisation across the team as the senior technical escalation point for Azure, Terraform and DevOps practices.
  • Conduct code and architecture reviews.
  • Help uphold engineering excellence across the team's output.
  • Work closely with Solution Architects and the Head of Cloud Operations on solution design, migrations and customer onboarding.
  • Take part in an on-call / out-of-hours rota.

What you'll bring

  • Proven, in-depth experience engineering and operating Microsoft Azure environments in production, along with extensive Terraform experience - writing, structuring and maintaining modules, state management, workspaces and remote backends.
  • A strong DevOps background, including CI/CD pipeline design, Git-based workflows and release automation.
  • Demonstrable experience leading or mentoring engineers, setting technical direction and coordinating team delivery.
  • Solid scripting ability in PowerShell, Bash or Python.
  • A sound understanding of Azure networking, identity (Entra ID), security and governance.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tooling such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a methodical, root-cause approach to problems.
