Azure Data Architecture Lead – Modernisation Engineering Services

Sonata Software

About the Role As an Azure Data Architecture Lead at Sonata Software, you will be responsible for the lead architecture and design of enterprise data platforms across Azure Fabric, Databricks, and Azure. This role involves defining a scalable, high-performance data ecosystem that supports real-time operations and future-proofs digital innovations.

You will collaborate closely with Sprint Planning teams and stakeholders to deliver cloud-native, enterprise-grade data architectures that prioritise governance, security, performance, and governance frameworks adapted to scale for utilities and large-scale data environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define end-to-end enterprise data architecture spanning microservices and data fabrication, ensuring seamless integration with AI, business automation, and intelligent recommendation systems.
  • Lead the design of batch and real-time pipelines using Kafka/streaming technologies to deliver actionable insights.
  • Architect smart metering data ingestion, integrating with Finnish national rollout programs and industry requirements.
  • Ensure data governance, security, and performance are embedded within the system.
  • Collaborate with Finlux delivery leads to provide on-site support and guidance.
  • Own data engineering solutions in the context of business-and data-driven transformation.
  • Drive best practices in long-term intelligent ecosystems for the future.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience, with a minimum of 5+ years in data architecture design and cloud migration/modernisation projects.
  • Expertise in Azure Fabric, Databricks and/or Azure Data Lake verwandlungen, working with Snowflake/Data lake environments (Unix/SQL).
  • Proven experience in streaming technologies, including Kafka or Azure Event Hubs for real-time data pipelines.
  • Strong background in the utilities or smart metering sector (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proven ability to design high-performance, scalable data fabric solutions leveraging synthetic transaction generation and AI analytics.

  • Experience with machine learning and model nudges for business impact.
  • Familiarity with EFSS/OCS (OneDrive/Sharepoint integration), migration and storage solutions.

Location: UK Contract: Hybrid Duration: 12+ Months
