About The Role

The Azure Data Engineer role at Peabody offers an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled professional to shape and enhance the organization’s data infrastructure. In this position, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes utilizing Databricks, designing robust data pipelines, and ensuring their seamless integration into Data Lakes and other storage solutions. Your expertise will support the organization’s data management strategies, ensuring data quality, governance, and security are maintained at the highest standards.

This role requires a collaborative mindset, as you will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and various stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver tailored data solutions. Additionally, you will partner with IT, Digital, and DevOps teams to facilitate the smooth deployment and integration of data services. Your technical guidance and mentorship will be vital in elevating the organization’s data engineering standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in advanced SQL and experience in migrating SSIS packages to Databricks.
  • Azure Data Engineer Associate certification or equivalent cloud platform credentials.
  • Deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and data modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise-grade data governance and security standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex data issues with analytical insight and a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Databricks and related technologies.
  • Implement and maintain data governance, security, and compliance standards across data platforms.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet organizational needs.
  • Partner with IT, Digital, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless deployment, integration, and maintenance of data services.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows, resolving issues promptly to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in big data and cloud computing, recommending innovative solutions for continuous improvement.
  • Document data architectures, pipelines, and best practices to promote transparency and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and contribute to the development of organizational data engineering standards.
