About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Software Engineer with a strong background in Azure technologies to join our dynamic team on a contract basis in London, United Kingdom. The ideal candidate will have between 6 to 8 years of experience in data software engineering, with a particular emphasis on Azure Databricks development. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing large-scale data pipelines and workflows using Azure cloud services. The successful applicant will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement scalable data solutions that support our clients' strategic objectives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge data engineering projects within a collaborative and innovative environment, contributing to impactful digital transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 6 to 8 years of professional experience in data software engineering, with demonstrated expertise in Azure-based data solutions. Strong proficiency in Azure Databricks development, including handling large datasets efficiently, is essential. Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory for designing and building complex ETL workflows is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of Azure cloud services relevant to data engineering and architecture, such as Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Blob Storage. Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization of data pipelines and distributed processing setups is highly desirable. Proficiency in Scala programming language is preferred, with hands-on experience considered a significant advantage. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows using Azure Databricks, ensuring efficient processing of large datasets.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Build and optimize complex ETL processes utilizing Azure Data Factory, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.
- Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies for data pipelines and distributed processing environments to enhance efficiency and reduce processing times.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows, resolving issues promptly to ensure continuous operation.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for data engineering within the organization.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure data services and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions that improve existing systems.
- Document technical specifications and procedures, and provide support and guidance to team members as needed.
