Azure Landing Zone Site Reliability Engineer
Locations: Halifax, Leeds
Salary: £70,929 - £78,810
HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Leeds or Halifax office. The role may include some out of hours/on-call duties worked on a rota basis.

We're looking for an Azure Landing Zone Site Reliability Engineer to join our Public Cloud Platform as a Squad Lead. You'll have a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious team with the purpose of driving our tech modernisation agenda and enable us to become the biggest Fintech in the UK.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in leading others in operations teams and can demonstrate an SRE approach and mindset. Commitment to great service whilst providing supporting high-quality, scalable solutions is a must. You'll have worked hands-on with Azure Cloud products and service as well other supporting tools and methodologies in a modern cloud operations environment (CI/CD, ServiceNow, Dynatrace, agile, Jira, etc.)
What you'll do
- Take a lead role organising and supporting a group of engineers working in our front-line Azure SRE team, collaborating with business platforms across the bank to build, release and evolve modern scalable Public Cloud solutions.
- The team cover a wider range of Azure Cloud products as well as support for a number of LBG built services which enable LBG engineers to build on Azure Public Cloud (including some out of hours/on-call duties worked on a rota basis)
- Take an SRE approach to this operations role, focussing on availability and reliability whilst always looking at opportunities for better observability, automation, and toil reduction.
- Contribute to the wider Public Cloud strategic technology roadmaps

What you'll need
- Experience and robust technical understand of working with a broad set of Azure cloud products and services
- Leadership experience including team leadership, mentoring and task management
- DevOps understanding, including experience of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines, such as Terraform and Jenkins, or alternatives such as Azure DevOps
- Ability to quickly understand, update and write code in languages such as Python, Groovy, BASH, PowerShell
- An understanding of Cloud security and networking
- Experience in problem-solving, able to demonstrate logical thinking and excellent troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrate a passion to continue to learn and develop your engineering skills
- Experience in automating/scripting to remove toil
It would be great if you also had
- Certifications in Azure or another cloud platform, including providers like Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services
- Candidates with less direct experience in cloud engineering, who can demonstrate strong skills in other areas such as operations, leadership, ITIL disciplines who also are able to quickly adapt and pick up new skills will also be considered
- Experience of developing for, or administrating Kubernetes clusters in a production environment
