Job title: Azure Platform Architect

Location: Birmingham or Sheffield (hybrid)
Contract: 6 - 12 months (potential contract - hire)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Platform Architect to play a pivotal role in shaping and evolving a large-scale Azure-based technology platform within a platform-centric operating model. This is a strategic architecture position focused on defining the long-term direction of enterprise platforms, governance frameworks, and cloud architecture standards rather than project-specific solution design.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving platform strategy across the organisation, ensuring scalability, security, resilience, and operational excellence while supporting ongoing business transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Define and own the strategic roadmap for enterprise platforms hosted within Microsoft Azure.
  • Lead architectural decision-making across cloud infrastructure, platform services, security, networking, governance, and operational tooling.
  • Establish and maintain architectural principles, standards, and best practices across the organisation.
  • Drive platform evolution, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned to business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior technology leadership, engineering teams, security, operations, and business stakeholders to shape future platform capabilities.
  • Champion a platform engineering and platform-centric operating model, enabling development teams through reusable services and self-service capabilities.
  • Design and implement Azure governance frameworks covering identity, security, compliance, cost management, and operational controls.
  • Provide technical leadership across cloud modernisation and digital transformation programmes.
  • Support M&A initiatives through technical due diligence, platform assessments, integration planning, and target-state architecture design.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the platform remains modern and fit for future growth.
  • Mentor architects and engineering teams while influencing architectural practices across the wider organisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
