Department: Internal Technology
Location: Oxford, UK
Description
Based in our Oxford office, you will join the Architecture and Engineering function within Internal Technology. The team is responsible for the design, delivery, continual improvement, and escalation support of the core services that provide Aurora's staff with the processes, tools, and technology needed to perform their best work.
Reporting into Architecture and Engineering, you will be a hands-on engineer responsible for strengthening Aurora’s Azure platform, including our Enterprise Service Bus integration platform, ALZ with hybrid networking, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling. You will help mature a solid but rapidly evolving cloud foundation into a scalable, well-governed, secure, and reliable platform.
This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys practical delivery, operational improvement, and technical ownership. You will contribute not only to configuration and deployment, but also to documentation, governance standards, monitoring, runbooks, and the engineering practices that support a growing international business.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Excellence: Apply a proactive, detail-focused engineering mindset to design and deliver robust Azure solutions. Set a high bar for quality, consistency, and operational excellence across the platform.
- Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD: Design, implement and maintain Azure infrastructure using Terraform/OpenTofu and CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps. Ensure infrastructure is version-controlled, auditable, and reproducible.
- Integration and Enterprise Service Bus: Sharing ownership with the Head of Architecture and Engineering, develop Aurora's Enterprise Service Bus and broader integration infrastructure, leveraging Azure Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus and related iPaaS services to support reliable, scalable integrations across Aurora's application estate.
- Networking and Landing Zone: Design, configure and maintain Azure networking components including Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, Private Endpoints, DNS, and hybrid connectivity. Ensure network architecture is secure, performant, and aligned to the Landing Zone design.
- Observability and Operations: Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Sentinel. Drive a culture of observability, ensuring platform health, performance, and security events are proactively tracked and acted upon.
- Governance and Documentation: Actively develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and architecture documentation. Contribute to governance practices and ensure our Azure environment is well-understood, consistently managed, and aligned to security and compliance requirements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work directly with Internal Technology colleagues, the Architecture and Engineering function, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, shape solutions, and ensure Azure platform capabilities keep pace with Aurora's growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
