Azure Platform Engineer
Location: Hybrid / Newbury
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + Benefits
We're looking for experienced Azure Platform Engineering Consultants to join a major cloud transformation programme delivering Telco-as-a-Service on Azure.
This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale Azure platform, helping build secure, scalable and production-ready cloud capabilities that will underpin future digital services. Working alongside an established engineering team, you'll deliver reusable platform components, Infrastructure as Code, automation and engineering best practices while supporting the ongoing development of a modern enterprise cloud platform.

What You'll Do
- Design, build and optimise Azure platform capabilities that are secure, scalable and resilient.
- Develop production-ready Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Terragrunt and Azure-native tooling.
- Create reusable Azure platform templates and engineering patterns to support consistent platform adoption.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and release processes.
- Implement observability, monitoring, logging, resilience and operational readiness across the platform.
- Embed FinOps principles, improving cloud cost visibility and optimisation.
- Work closely with engineering teams throughout sprint planning, delivery, reviews and technical demonstrations.
- Coach and support engineers through knowledge sharing, documentation and paired engineering.
- Contribute technical expertise to architecture, security and operational discussions.
- Produce clear technical documentation and reusable engineering standards.

Essential Skills & Experience
- 10+ years' commercial experience in platform engineering or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure engineering experience across compute, networking, storage, identity, security and monitoring services.
- Proven Infrastructure as Code expertise using Terraform and Terragrunt.
- Experience building reusable Azure landing zones, platform templates or engineering patterns.
- Strong understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps practices including CI/CD, source control, automated testing and release management.
- Experience with Azure observability, monitoring, alerting, logging and platform reliability.
- Practical knowledge of cloud security, governance and enterprise engineering standards.
- Experience applying FinOps principles including tagging strategies, right-sizing and cloud cost optimisation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within large enterprise engineering teams.
- Experience producing technical documentation and mentoring engineers.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working within large-scale enterprise Azure platform programmes.
- Knowledge of Azure Policy, Azure Landing Zones and enterprise governance models.
- Experience supporting platform resilience, disaster recovery and operational readiness.
- Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and Scrum teams.
- Experience working alongside architecture, security and operations teams within regulated environments.
- Experience delivering cloud platforms within complex, enterprise environments.
