Azure Platform Engineer

Role at Fastest-Growing Technology Company in Scotland

My client, the fastest-growing technology company in Scotland, with plans to deploy and invest over £2 billion in the coming years, is seeking an early-stage candidate to build something from the ground up inside a fast-scaling business.

Role Overview

Selected to provide a managed Compute & Storage service for a public sector customer, transitioning from the incumbent provider. The Azure platform must be validated before go-live, document results in runbooks, and transition to BAU support. Scope includes:

  • Validating the Azure platform for handover into BAU support, ensuring all issues are documented.
  • Focus on verifying the Azure platform for ready-to-support, full compliance against defined standards.

Key Responsibilities

Valve Azure Infrastructure

Verify Azure infrastructure for service readiness. Review current Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services against:

  • Resource organisation
  • Governance and compliance
  • Tagging
  • Cost visibility
  • Policy
  • Access control
  • Resilience
  • Final assessment: Determine readiness for full support. Record undocumented dependency gaps for remediation.

Assess Hybrid Environments

  • Audit integration points between Azure and on-premise platforms.
  • Focus on overlapping elements (e.g., network, identity, storage reliability).
  • Validate consistent, documented config standards. Document observed weaknesses for future remediation.

Review Azure ExpressRoute

  • Audit existing ExpressRoute circuits for stability and operational visibility.
  • Check key components: routing, peering configurations, resilience mechanisms.
  • Ensure documentation exists to support ongoing managed operations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
