Multi-Drop Van Driver

Location: Polar Speed Distribution Ltd, 7 Chartmoor Road, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, LU7 4WG

Hours:

  • 40 hours per week (minimum)
  • Monday to Friday, starting at 0630
  • 48–52 average hours per week due to flexibility

Salary: £13.04 per hour


About the Role

Polar Speed, a UPS company, is a logistics provider specialising in temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical deliveries. Based in the UK, we offer industry-leading solutions for active temperature-controlled transport, serving hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers, and patients.

As a Multi-Drop Van Driver, you will:

  • Collect, deliver, and track shipments while maintaining precise temperature controls
  • Provide high-level customer service, including assisting patients with stock returns where required
  • Work collaboratively with trusted global brands across the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Flexibility is key—you must be available for urgent medical deliveries when required, potentially extending working hours beyond 40 per week.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Conduct daily safety checks of the vehicle and refrigeration unit
    • Maintain cleanliness in application (4–8°C) for pharmaceuticals

  • Delivery & Logistics:

    • Transport and accurately drop shipments to locations including GP surgeries, pharmacies, wholesalers, and hospitals
    • Ensure Timely and temperature-compliant deliveries
    • Meet Return On Service Measures (ROSM) and strive for outstanding performance
    • Complete electronic delivery records and driver manifests
  • Customer Interaction & Professionalism:

    • Showcase excellent customer service with all customers
    • Maintain professional dress code and appearance

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

✅ Minimum of 2 years’ on-the-road experience ✅ Must hold a valid B category driving licence (prioritised where licence has ≤ 3 points) ❌ No provisional or learner tests permitted

Skills & Attributes

  • Proven driving experience (previously delivered goods for commercial clients is advantageous)
  • Customer service excellence – it’s vital when dealing with sensitive and clinical deliveries
  • Strong organisation, reliability and a willingness to prioritise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, coupled with confidentiality awareness

Working Arrangement

  • Permanent role (not temporary or agency-based)
  • Isolating days off required related to your operating hours
  • Location-based scheduling
