Job Overview

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Main duties of the job

Are you a Band 5 Occupational Therapist looking to further your OT career and not sure where you want to specialise, looking for a supportive environment to develop your skills and gain both knowledge and confidence? Then this may be the perfect opportunity for you!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced B5 OT, with postgraduate experience in several clinical areas, who is looking to progress to a B6 post, after completion of competencies, and who feels they would benefit from working across a wide range of specialty clinical areas before choosing their main area of interest. The current rotations are in proportionate care, critical care, cancer care, surgery, CT, medicine, MOP, vascular, AMU, Paeds, Ortho and neurology, however these are subject to change.

You will be responsible for managing a varied and complex caseload as well as supporting & supervising B3-5 therapy staff & students. All our therapy staff are required to be able to undertake flexible working over a 7-day period, including weekends.

Working for our organisation

University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations.

Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

At UHS, we’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
