B7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist- Fixed term (mat cover)
Clinical or Counselling Psychologist – Fixed-Term (Maternity Leave Cover) for Behaviours That Challenge in Dementia
We are seeking an enthusiastic, HCPC-registered or soon-to-be-registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our Trustwide Intensive Support Team for behaviours that challenge in dementia. This is a fixed-term role providing maternity leave cover.
About the Role
You will work closely with care homes to deliver:
- Psychological assessments
- Formulation-based interventions
- Evidence-based support for people with dementia in distress with unmet needs
Ideal candidates will share our passion for: ✔ Improving quality of life for people with dementia, their carers, and families ✔ Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) ✔ Person-centred, compassionate care
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment & Intervention:
- Conduct psychological assessments and formulations for care home residents exhibiting challenging behaviours.
- Provide evidence-based psychological interventions (e.g., Newcastle Model).
- Support care home staff with consistent, person-centred approaches.

Training & Consultation:
- Offer psycho-education and supervision to CMHT (Community Mental Health Team) colleagues.
- Support risk assessment & risk management plans.

Collaborative Practice:
- Work within a Psychology network across community & inpatient older adult services.
- Contribute to service improvement, shared learning, and advocacy for older adults.

Trustwide Engagement:
- Cover East Surrey (inc. Redhill, Reigate, Tandridge, Epsom, Mole Valley & Elmbridge).
Requirements
- HCPC registration (or due for registration) as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
- Valid UK driving licence, unrestricted personal car/motorcycle use (essential for community work).
- Commitment to Positive Behaviour Support and person-centred values.
- Ability to work collaboratively across mental health, care home, and community settings.
