Job Summary
Due to internal movement, we are seeking a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our Specialist Surgery & Lung Transplant team at QEHB for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This role supports a wide range of patient cohorts with communication and/or swallowing disorders, including post-lung transplant dysphagia and multiple medical specialties such as transplants (heart, renal, liver), gastroenterology, cardiology, and thoracics.

Main Responsibilities
You will provide highly specialist SLT input for the Specialist Surgery & Lung Transplant caseload, supporting a multidisciplinary team.

Key Duties
- Assess and manage patients with communication, airway, and dysphagia-related disorders
- Lead FEES and videofluoroscopy assessments
- Contribute to audits, clinical research and patient outcome presentations
- Participate in service development initiatives
- Supervise junior colleagues and students in SLT practice
- Engage in clinical quality improvements
- Work flexibly in a fast-paced environment
About You
Essential Criteria
- A BSc or recognised MSc degree in Speech & Language Therapy
- RCSLT membership and HCPC registration
- Dysphagia competencies (RCSLT Level C/Level 5) or higher
- Considerable experience working independently in adult dysphagia (specialist level)
- Surface-level specialist surgery caseload experience
- Acute hospital environment experience
- Proven teamwork and multi-professional collaboration
- Evidence of post-graduate training (short courses or self-study)
- People management experience (team/colleague support)
- Capable of training SLT students and junior therapists

Desirable
- Advanced instruments (FEES, videofluoroscopy) and tracheostomy assessment experience
- Membership of a relevant CEN
- Post-Grade/Research experience
- Postgraduate/masters-level dysphagia courses
- Familiarity with NHS strategic direction
