The Role: Direct Entry Pilot (DEP) to Captain

At BA Cityflyer, we’re looking for Direct Entry Pilots—those who bring skill, passion, and leadership potential to drive us forward. You’ll play a crucial role in delivering exceptional journeys for our valuable customers, flying into the heart of London every day.

What You’ll Do
- Fly Embraer 190s from London City Airport, serving destinations across the UK and Europe in a dynamic operation (business, charter, and leisure flights).
- Contribute to a highly professional service standard for sophisticated passengers.
- Undergo structured oversight as part of the DEP programme, ensuring you’re well-supported along your progression to Captain role.
- Operate in one of aviation’s most demanding environments, using leadership, adaptability, and teamwork to maintain excellence.
- Embrace flexibility, working in formats like day trips, night stops, and tours, reflecting BA Cityflyer’s reputation for seamless service.

What We Offer
Career & Compensation
- Permanent contract from day one
- DEP Starting Salary: £67,799 (basic + non-pensionable pay), plus ~£11,700 in allowances
- Progress to Captain: Salary increases to £105,651 plus ~£16,300 in allowances plus incremental progression on a 15-point pay scale
- Fully funded Embraer 190 type rating with a bond.
- 30 days’ annual leave after 7 years, increasing to 35 days over time
- Company pension upto 12% employer contribution.

Selection Criteria
To apply, you must meet the following mandatory requirements:
- UK-issued CAA ATPL, fATPL, MPL, or EASA licence with pathway compliant with UK CAA routes (3,4,5, or 6).
- Minimum 2,500 total flying hours, including 1,000 hours on multi-crew aircraft.
- Within the last 6 months as the CAPT (pilot-in-charge) on the previous type flown.
- Right to live and work in the UK.
- Height requirement 1.57m (5’2”) to 1.91m (6’3”). Pilots above 1.91m must pass a functionality check.
- ICAO English: Level 6 proficiency
- Valid passport (minimum 12 months’ validity at expiry)
- Valid Class 1 Medical (renew within 6 months after joining)
Note: The role does not offer sponsorship for visas.

✧ Supported documents: Copy of your licence + last 3 pages of your logbook for verification ✧ FFP (First Furlough Period) disqualification: Not in effect for this application process. ✧ Reapply periods:
- Initial stages: 6 months
- Selection to Simulator Stage: 12 months
✧ Apply only if eligible—if missing a license or hours, this opportunity will not suit you. ✧ Other BA Group airlines require separate applications.
