About the Job
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with strong London Market Insurance domain expertise to support business and technology transformation initiatives for a specialty insurance client. The candidate should have strong experience across London Market insurance processes, including underwriting, claims, policy administration, delegated authority, bordereaux, reinsurance, premium processing, regulatory reporting, data, and system transformation. The ideal candidate should be able to work closely with business users, underwriters, claims teams, brokers, operations teams, compliance teams, technology teams, vendors, and senior stakeholders to gather requirements, define processes, document business rules, and support successful delivery of insurance change programmes.
Hybrid Working
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a Business Analyst on London Market Insurance transformation, data, regulatory, and technology projects.
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand current processes, pain points, business objectives, and target-state requirements.
- Conduct requirement gathering workshops with underwriting, claims, operations, finance, compliance, data, and technology teams.
- Document business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and business rules.
- Analyse end-to-end London Market insurance lifecycle processes including:
- Quote
- Bind
- Policy issuance
- Endorsements
- Renewals
- Claims
- Premium processing
- Reinsurance
- Regulatory reporting
- Support process mapping, gap analysis, impact assessment, and target operating model definition.
- Work with product owners, project managers, solution architects, data architects, QA teams, and developers to translate business needs into deliverable solutions.
- Support platform implementation, system enhancement, data migration, integration, and reporting initiatives.
- Define and validate data requirements, source-to-target mappings, business rules, and reconciliation requirements.
- Support UAT planning, test scenario preparation, test execution, defect triage, and business sign-off.
- Facilitate stakeholder reviews, walkthroughs, demos, and requirement sign-off sessions.
- Maintain requirement traceability from business requirements through design, build, test, and deployment.
- Support business readiness, change impact assessment, training material preparation, and operational adoption.
- Ensure solutions align with London Market standards, regulatory expectations, data governance, and business operating models.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong experience as a Business Analyst in the insurance domain.
- Good understanding of London Market Insurance operations and processes.
- Experience working with Lloyd’s market, brokers, managing agents, syndicates, carriers, or specialty insurers.
- Strong knowledge of insurance lifecycle processes including:
- Underwriting
- Claims
- Policy administration
- Premium accounting
- Reinsurance
- Bordereaux
- Delegated authority
- Reporting
- Experience in business requirements gathering, functional specification writing, and user story creation.
- Strong experience in process mapping, gap analysis, impact assessment, and business process improvement.
- Ability to translate business requirements into functional and technical requirements.
- Experience supporting Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.
- Good understanding of data requirements, data mapping, migration, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Experience supporting UAT, test planning, defect management, and business sign-off.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

London Market Insurance Experience
Candidate should have exposure to one or more of the following areas:
- Lloyd’s of London market operations
- Specialty and commercial insurance
- Wholesale insurance
- Broker and carrier operating models
- Managing agent and syndicate processes
- Underwriting workbench platforms
- Claims transformation
- Policy administration transformation
- Delegated authority management
- Bordereaux processing
- Exposure management
- Reinsurance operations
- Premium and claims accounting
- Data warehouse and reporting projects
- Regulatory and compliance change
- Blueprint Two / London Market modernisation initiatives
Technology / Platform Exposure
Experience with one or more of the following systems or platforms will be preferred:

Good to Have Skills
- Experience with Lloyd’s Blueprint Two / London Market modernisation initiatives.
- Knowledge of ACORD messaging, market messaging, and insurance data standards.
- Understanding of bureau and non-bureau processing.
- Experience with delegated authority, coverholder management, binders, and bordereaux.
- Experience in data migration, data warehousing, reporting, or analytics projects.
- Experience with API integration, system interface mapping, and workflow automation.
- Exposure to Target Operating Model design and business change management.
- Experience with regulatory reporting, compliance, audit, and operational resilience projects.
- Knowledge of insurance accounting, premium processing, claims processing, and settlement.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or similar tools.
- Insurance certifications such as CII or London Market qualifications.
- BA certifications such as CBAP, BCS Business Analysis, Agile BA, or Scrum certification.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of overall professional experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of Business Analyst experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in insurance or financial services.
- Strong hands-on experience in London Market Insurance is highly preferred.
- Proven experience working on complex business and technology transformation projects.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders, business SMEs, vendors, and delivery teams.
- Prior experience with UK insurance, Lloyd’s market, specialty insurance, brokers, or managing agents is preferred.
