Lead Backend Engineer (Golang)
Location: Hybrid – 2 days per month in London
Salary: £70,000 to £75,000
The Opportunity
We’re working with a fast-growing, global digital platform used by millions of users each month, now scaling into new international markets.
They’re looking for a Senior / Lead Backend Engineer (Golang) to help design and build high-performance, scalable systems powering a high-traffic marketplace.
This is a hands-on engineering role with strong influence over architecture, scalability, and system design.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and scale backend services using Golang (Go)
- Design high-performance, distributed systems
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
- Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver new features
- Contribute to technical direction and best practices

Tech Environment
- Golang (Go) – core backend language
- Microservices architecture
- REST APIs + gRPC
- SQL / NoSQL databases
- Containerised environments (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Modern CI/CD pipelines
What We’re Looking For
- Strong commercial experience with Golang (Go)
- Background in backend or distributed systems engineering
- Experience building scalable, high-traffic applications
- Solid understanding of APIs, microservices, and system design
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, product-led environment
