Senior Back End Engineer - Digital Visualisation Platform (Node.js)

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne / Hybrid Working Type: Full Time Note: We are seeking candidates based in the North East and are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

From world-beating product configurators to photo-realistic CGI content, and cloud-streaming solutions at enterprise-standard, we make the process simpler, faster, and more efficient.

The Role

This firmly back-end focused role blends server-side logic and distributed systems, powering our 3D visualisation engines.

You’ll go beyond isolated API development, understanding how back-end logic integrates with front-end surfaces, bridging ZeroLight’s cloud rendering technologies and the final user interface.

The Person

We’re seeking an engineer with a passion for server-side logic, data integrity, and system performance.

  • You enjoy deconstructing complex problems in distributed systems and enjoy informed by feature delivery
  • You have 2–5 years of experience in backend engineering or full-stack development
  • Committed to collaboration with strong communication skills
  • Growth mindset and readiness to pivot between backend architectural work and front-end adjustments to meet client needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable microservices that form the backbone of ZeroLight’s visualisation platform
  • Design and implement high-availability, self-healing, fault-tolerant systems ensuring zero downtime for global partners
  • Apply full-stack troubleshooting skills—interfacing front-end frameworks with backend APIs
  • Ensure efficient data pipelines between databases and end-users within our distributed cloud ecosystem
  • Drive updates supporting automotive client workflows, owning code from server-side logic to UI interaction

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
