Back End Developer (Full-Time, Remote/Hybrid/Office-Based in Peacehaven)

Madison is seeking a Back End Developer to design, build, and maintain cutting-edge server-side applications, APIs, and bespoke websites. You will also develop custom e-commerce and software integrations while ensuring high performance, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain server-side applications, APIs, and bespoke websites.
  • Design and build custom e-commerce and software integrations.
  • Implement robust business logic, optimize databases, and ensure security and performance.
  • Integrate front-end components with back-end systems.
  • Collaborate with designers and front-end developers, and participate in code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot issues and contribute to technical planning and architecture.
  • Ensure client solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with best practices.

(Flexibility: While full-time is preferred, this role could also suit part-time or contract candidates.)


Qualifications & Skills

Core Technical Requirements

  • Strong back-end development experience, including:
    • Server-side frameworks
    • Database design and maintenance
    • Development of scalable architectures
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming (OOP):
    • Writing clean, reusable code
    • Designing modular components
  • Knowledge of basic front-end development for seamless API-integrations
  • Experience with API design, security best practices, and performance optimisation
  • Debugging expertise in production environments

Collaboration & Problem-Solving

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience in an agency or client-focused development environment is advantageous.
