Back End Engineering
This is a core role at Thought Machine. Back End Engineers lead the development of our Vault product, following best-practice paradigms like continuous deployment and monorepo architecture.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and scale microservices using proven engineering principles.
- Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, etc.).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver features coherently and efficiently.
- Own deployment debugging from internal testing to production environments.
- Translate complex customer requirements into actionable project tickets.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience with either Python or Golang.
- Strong track record of automated testing embedded in development workflows.
- Interest in client-facing projects, scoping, and defining deliverables.
Desirable
- Familiarity with banking/finance or embedded fintech systems.
- AWS or other cloud provider expertise.
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Prior work in client/server/networking architectures, or microservices.
- Hands-on experience with containerization/Orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes/Mesos).
