Back End Engineering

This is a core role at Thought Machine. Back End Engineers lead the development of our Vault product, following best-practice paradigms like continuous deployment and monorepo architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and scale microservices using proven engineering principles.
  • Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, etc.).
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver features coherently and efficiently.
  • Own deployment debugging from internal testing to production environments.
  • Translate complex customer requirements into actionable project tickets.

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience with either Python or Golang.
  • Strong track record of automated testing embedded in development workflows.
  • Interest in client-facing projects, scoping, and defining deliverables.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with banking/finance or embedded fintech systems.
  • AWS or other cloud provider expertise.
  • Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Prior work in client/server/networking architectures, or microservices.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization/Orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes/Mesos).
