About the Team

Agoda’s Back-End Engineering department powers infrastructure, APIs, and applications that enable core business operations—including inventory management, pricing, customer data, communications, and payments. We thrive on delivering scalable, reliable systems with minimal downtime:

  • Build self-healing architectures that stay resilient under extreme loads.
  • Leverage CI/CD and advanced testing to ensure global availability.
  • Use modern languages and tools, including:
    • Kotlin, Scala, Java, Go, Play framework
    • Data tech: Kafka, Spark, MLflow, Kubeflow
    • Databases: VastStorage, StarRocks (OLAP), RDBMS (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle)
    • Agile & DevOps-driven development

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Strong candidates bring:

  • 10+ years building performance-critical, production-grade applications in Scala, Java, Kotlin, C#, Go, or similar languages.
  • Profound expertise in RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL+).
  • Ability to lead major company-wide initiatives and provide technical vision.
  • Fluent English (verbal and written) for collaboration across global teams.
  • Proven leadership in architecture decisions, team standards, and roadmaps.
  • Deep experience with CI/CD and end-to-end testing (unit, integration, load, chaos).
  • Insatiable drive for skills development and best practices in software engineering.

Nice to Have

Preferable but not required:

  • Experience with NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, etc.).
  • Work with queueing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, MSMQ).

Location & Eligibility

  • Remote or on-site option: Bangkok, Thailand (with relocation provided).
  • Candidates in Asian and APAC locations receive priority.
